Knocking on the coffin just to make sure that you're gone
Say goodbye, don't want to cry, just to hear the song
Small embrace, kiss your face, see you in a while
Just remember the last time that I saw you smile
Cold and hard, face the yard, handles sharp to hold
Take you in for one last spin off to worlds untold
Washing all the tears away, with a life of smiles
Keeping up appearances, run away for miles
Searing pain, it comes again, the sweetness of goodbye
waves crashing till I stand still, hold my face and cry
Knocking on the coffin making sure you've gone
say goodbye, breathe a sigh and now we travel on.
This one came to me after my Father and Stepmothers' funeral, their suicide made me a little nuts, and at the funeral I performed our ritual knocking on the coffing (it is a family thing... just to be sure)
